
After getting the hang of managing GDM (kind of) and learning to eat healthier, I entered the third trimester and finally started to really enjoy my pregnancy once again. I was looking forward to my maternity leave so much! My due date was May 7th, which meant I would have one month of maternity leave before my due date, so I would start my leave on April 7th.
My family and friends threw me a beautiful baby shower (which I’ll share in a separate blog post), and I was able to prepare, both mentally and physically, for the birth.
But my third trimester ended up being only two months long because our baby boy decided to arrive on April 7th; yup… a month earlier than expected! This also meant I didn’t get my first month of maternity leave before the due date :’). I’ll write a separate blog post about the whole birth experience in depth :)
The two months of my third trimester was pretty chill though. I was working from home and listening to my body, meditating a lot and working out a lot and eating as healthy as I could and of course I didnt get any sugar due to GDM. I of course felt heavier at this point but I was mentally in a good place and I was also focusing a lot on breathing exercises, meditation and just mindfullness in general.
By the time the third trimester rolled in (even if it ended a bit sooner than planned!), I was finally in a place of peace, gratitude, and excitement. But little did I know, our baby boy had his own plans.
