Okay, first of all: get ready for a bunch of random photos! xD
I thought I would share a little life lately with you guys today. Lately, I’ve been focusing on my wellbeing, our baby (of course), and resting. My days have been filled with working out, joining several workout classes (both with and without the baby), drinking lots of tea, and reading the same book (it feels like it’s taking me forever to finish, but I think that’s because I’ve had so much on my plate lately, and I’m just tired xD haha).
I’ve also been focusing on some self-care, like getting a new haircut, which I really needed! My hair was so long and damaged. Besides being social with the mothers’ group and during workout classes, I’ve actually been canceling a lot of other plans. We’ve had so many things going on the past few months that I’ve felt exhausted. I’m the type of person who, if I’ve been social for a while, needs some alone time to recharge. I wouldn’t say I’m exactly an introvert, but not a full extrovert either… I guess I’m somewhere in between. I love being social, but I also really value time by myself.
Since I’ll be going back to work soon, I’ve wanted to spend more time at home with my family and resting. Motherhood is so beautiful and tough; especially tough because of my carpal tunnel syndrome, which is taking forever to heal, on top of the usual sleep deprivation. I can handle not getting much sleep, but when you combine that with my arms not working properly, it’s been overwhelming. I’ve realized how much I used to take my health and body for granted. Pregnancy and postpartum have really opened my eyes to that. Not being able to use my hands as I used to, and constantly needing breaks and help, has been frustrating. Especially when all I want is to hold my baby. There are so many times I have to put him down after a little while because I don’t want to risk dropping him, and that’s hard.
But aside from that challenge (and the hormones of course), I really am enjoying motherhood a lot. I’ve learned and grown so much already. It’s such an amazingly beautiful journey.
I also want to practice more rest and slow living. That’s something I’m really working on, since I’m naturally someone who feels the need to be busy all the time. Often, I disconnect from my feelings by filling my day with productivity; it makes me feel satisfied, but I know it ties into my high-functioning anxiety, which is both a curse and a blessing :P
Lately, I’ve also been reflecting on the kind of mother I want to be. I have this tiny little human who depends on us, and I want him to have the best life possible. I want him to look back on his childhood with happiness and gratitude. That doesn’t mean spoiling him or giving him everything on a silver platter, but it does mean being intentional about the way I parent. At the same time, that line of thinking can stress me out, because I forget to stay present and simply enjoy these precious moments.
Anyway, this blog post has turned into a bit of a ramble, but I just wanted to share what I’ve been up to and what’s been on my mind lately.
Life is truly beautiful and chaotic, and I will cherish these moments forever. <3
