Hi guys! By the time this blog post is up, I’m probably either at the hospital or home with our baby. I’ve prepared all these posts in advance and wanted to share them after our baby boy arrived.
There has been a lot of preparation throughout this pregnancy journey—one of the biggest questions being: What essentials do we need to buy? What is a must-have? What can we skip? Of course, there are no right or wrong answers. Everyone has different needs, and every baby is unique, so it can be tricky. As I’m writing this post, we still don’t know what our baby will be like.
So, after doing some research online and talking to friends (many of whom have kids), I’ve put together a general list of essentials. Let me show you the list:
- Nursing bra
- Nursing pads
- Car seat
- Baby duvet
- 2-3 bedding sets
- Cradle
- Mattress
- Baby bathtub
- Stroller
- Diapers
- Carrycot
- Waterproof changing table
- Foam washcloths
- Postpartum pads
- Thermometer
- Vaseline
- Cotton swabs
- Nursing pillow
- Nursing chair
- Baby nest
- Diaper bag
- Baby blanket
- Wet wipes
- Vitamin D drops
- Baby alarm
Clothes for the baby:
- 6-8 wrap bodysuits, both short-sleeved and long-sleeved
- 3-4 soft pants
- 3-5 pairs of socks
- Tights
- Jumpsuit
- Hat
- Knitted sweater
- Sun hat
- Footed sleepsuit

I will do a follow-up on this post; a blog post about what I personally found essentiel for us after baby arrived. At this point, I don’t know yet since this is our first baby, and, well, we’re just figuring it out as we go. :)
I’ve also linked some of the products, but keep in mind that I’m not necessarily buying those exact ones. The links are more for reference in case my wording is unclear, so you can see what I’m talking about. ;) I’m still researching to decide which ones to buy. Some items are worth investing in, while for others, we don’t mind going for a more budget-friendly option. We don’t need “the best of the best” or the most expensive version of everything. We research the products, and if we feel something will make life easier for us and the baby, we’ll buy it.
