I already briefly touched on this in one of my earlier blog posts; A New Home, A New Beginning; but now we finally got to do the proper ceremony that marks moving in, with all the rituals included. In Hindu tradition, this is called Griha Pravesh, and it’s all about cleansing the space and inviting positive energy into your home. We had an Iyer/Ayyar (not sure how to spell it but hindu version of a priest, I suppose you could say) come and guide the whole process, performing prayers and rituals meant to bring peace, protection, and prosperity. There’s something really special about not just moving into a house, but actually pausing to set intentions for the life you’re about to build there. The ceremony includes symbolic elements like a fire ritual and boiling milk to represent abundance and new beginnings. It made the whole experience feel more meaningful and grounded, rather than just practical. Honestly, it made me feel safer in the house; like there was a sense of protection there that hadn’t been before. Amma asked if we wanted to do this pooja/ritual and I was like yeah I would love to and I’m curious to know more about it. So Amma did the whole planning, so credit goes to her xD Even though I dont know much about all our rituals, I am very curious and I do believe in the rituals, so it felt like the right thing to do this.
