So, I had birthday in October, and my husband had planned a birthday getaway at the beginning of my vacation. I had no idea where we were going or what he had planned. I thought I was good with surprises, but I had a hard time packing since I didn’t know the destination.
I absolutely loved the surprise! He had booked a weekend at Ystad Saltsjöbad in Sweden, which was about a three-hour drive away. This place is amazing, and I will definitely go there again and again. The service was amazing, the interior was beautiful, the staff were incredible, the food was delicious, and the spa and wellness area was absolutely stunning.
This was also the first time we traveled like this with our little guy, which was both challenging and fun. We thought we would be able to plan the day ourselves, like deciding when to eat and when to go to the spa, but that wasn’t the case. Dinner was arranged for 5:30 PM, followed by the spa at 8:00 PM. Unfortunately, that was the worst timing possible since we have an eight-month-old who needs dinner around 6:00 PM and bedtime around 7:00 PM.
Still, we didn’t let that ruin the experience! My husband was a little stressed because he had imagined the trip differently, and things didn’t go exactly as planned, and he wanted to make sure I was enjoying the trip. But it was still an amazing getaway.
For dinner, we had the starters at the restaurant and then asked if we could have the rest of the meal in our hotel room because our little guy was too tired. The staff were incredibly kind and delivered the main course and dessert to our room. Eating in the room turned out to be really cozy and relaxing, and our little guy was able to get the sleep he needed.
The next morning, we were told we could go to the spa with our little guy and we did! It was so much fun. We pretty much had the entire spa area to ourselves, and he absolutely loved it. Seeing him enjoy it was such a joy, and it felt so nice to do something different as a family instead of our usual everyday routines. We were curious and excited to see how he would react, and he loved it, which made the experience more better.
After that, we decided to bring the brunch buffet back to our hotel room as well, since our little guy was tired after his spa adventure. I went to the restaurant to get everything for my husband and me, and the staff helped me bring it all to our room. I ended up having a really nice conversation with one of the staff members. She was so kind, and I explained that we’re first-time parents and that this was our first trip like this. Eating in the restaurant just doesn’t work when our little guy is tired, and she completely understood.
I felt like I was being a bother, but she reassured me and told me to relax and not worry. She shared that she has three kids herself and totally gets it. She even said it’s great that we’re getting out and doing things like this with our baby and that made me so happy. That conversation was exactly what I needed at that moment. She also mentioned that many other parents do the same and that they’re very experienced with babies, which helped me relax even more.
The service was honestly 1000000/100, the food was 1000000/100, and the spa was just as amazing, 1000000/100.
All in all, it was an unforgettable trip that I will cherish forever. I can’t wait for our next family adventure!
