Baby Swimming for Beginners: Our First Experience

Now let’s talk about my experience with baby swimming! We tried it for the first time, and honestly, I have mixed feelings about it. The class itself was amazing. I loved everything about it! The instructors at DGI Vejle are incredible in general. I really like them; they’re so good at guiding you, keeping you calm, and motivating you.

But the overall experience wasn’t as positive. Still, I’m definitely going to give it another chance! Our baby absolutely loved being in the water, and I enjoyed that part so much too.

The hardest part for me was actually getting ready for swimming. I forgot my slippers, and I really struggled with the floor; it made me so anxious. I kept worrying that if I slipped, my baby would get hurt. I’ve actually fallen on swimming hall floors before, and it was next-level painful, so maybe I’m a little traumatized from that xD.

Another thing I struggled with was putting my baby down on those benches they have for bathing before and after swimming. They’re clean, but I still didn’t feel comfortable, and I kept overthinking everything. Of course, my baby could feel my stress and anxiety, so he got uncomfortable too. That made the ending of the whole experience not so great; he was sad, and I was stressed.

But that’s okay; it happens. Now I know how everything works, how I feel about it, and that I need to remember my slippers next time so it won’t be as stressful. I definitely want to give it another chance. And I also know I have to work on my overthinking; it’s something I’m very aware of xD.
